Red Players Laboratory
RPL is the professional theatre company division of the Academy (RPA) and Agency (RPM).
The Laboratory exists to produce professionally touring contemporary theatre productions featuring young performers, alongside their development as emerging artists and creative practitioners.
Inspired by a range of avant-garde European cultures and practices, The Laboratory is a space for select members of the Academy (and non-Academy members) to work as a professional collective under the artistic direction of Lee Battle and the Company to devise, develop, design and deliver the highest quality performance work by a young company.
The Laboratory's inaugural performance work - Untitled - is currently in development with the support of the New Adelphi Theatre (Salford) where it will premiere before touring to Belgium.
Below are the core tenets of The Laboratory's practice - principles governing process and product:

01
Natality
The performing company are young performers - children and young adults.
02
Innovation
The work is experimental, minimalist, deconstructionist, contemporary - it deliberately challenges the conventions of youth theatre.

03
Embodiment
The work privileges movement and the body over the spoken word - it is tactile, sensory, materialist, non-logocentric and image-based.
04
Truth
The work is honest, raw, emotional, felt, truthful.
